Creating a Creature

Create your first Creature!

To create your first Creature, right click in your Project window navigate to Create > Game Creator > Creatures > Creature.

Each detailed aspect of a creature is organized in tabs near the top of the editor, with Basic Data being contained in a collapsible foldout.

The Creature Editor can be opened as a separate, dockable window! Navigate up to the toolbar and then to Game Creator > Creatures > Open Creature Editor. This is the recommended workflow, as the Editor is a bit cramped for most Inspector setups.

The name of the creature asset itself is what will show up in the Database search and dropdowns, and it's alphabetized.

Basic Data Section

Species Name is the creature name that will be used in-game.

EXP Yield is the base amount of EXP a creature species gives when defeated. This can later be included in Creature Formulas.

The Growth Formula Set allows you to set up different tables and formulas for different species. Some species can be harder to raise (require more EXP) or easier to raise (require less EXP). This will help you to more easily display things like EXP bars that should differ between creatures, while still maintaining the same Level and EXP stats.

For other mechanics, if needed, you can also add a Creature Formula.

The Table used here is from GC2's Stats module, not a custom asset.

Equipment Slots handles any Equipment sets you want to apply to creatures. This is only necessary if you have Equipment in the Settings set to "Equipment", otherwise it can be left blank and the Settings will automatically apply the Held Item equipment slot (be sure to set this in Settings!).

Ability Slots is how many Abilities a creature can have equipped and active at one time.

Dex Page is the Dex page entry for the creature. Be sure to set this if you're using the Dex system!

The Gender Ratio slider represents how often a creature will spawn as one gender or the other. Also includes a Genderless option in the dropdown.

The Types foldout lets you add or remove Types for a creature. Read more about Creature Types here.
